Image Description: Woman with medium-short brown hair and a black shirt standing in front of a grey background: Hello, my name is Star Grieser. I’m the Director of Testing here at CASLI, the Center for the Assessment of Sign Language Interpretation. This vlog is a simple update about what’s been going on during the summer. CASLI has had a very busy summer, and our test committee has been working hard to finish the three tests: the knowledge exam, the hearing interpreter performance exam, and the Deaf interpreter performance exam. We are also working hard on the transition from our old testing platform, PSI, to our new testing platform – uSked. That work is still underway, and we are excited to be able to launch this new platform in October or November. We will begin by doing beta testing of the system itself so we will contact individuals to participate in that, using the current NIC interview and performance exam. After the beta testing is finished, we will be ready to launch the new platform.

As you may know, during this summer I have been the sole staff person for CASLI. Our previous testing specialist finished graduate school in May and left us to travel the world! We wish him all the best in his adventures! Meanwhile, I’ve been handling all of CASLI’s responsibilities for the past three months! Just three weeks ago, we were pleased to hire a new testing coordinator, Sean Furman. We’re thrilled to have him with us here at CASLI. Here is Sean.

Transitions to man with short brown hair and black polo shirt standing in front of a white wall: Hello! My name is Sean Furman. I’m the new Testing Coordinator for CASLI. I’m excited to be a part of this team and I’m looking forward to working with all of you. If you have any questions or need any information, please contact me at Testing@CASLI.org.

Transitions back to a woman with medium brown hair and black shirt standing un front of a grey background: We recently posted my presentation from RID national conference.  This presentation was made to emerging practitioners who are new to the interpreting field or recently graduated from ITPs and aspiring to certification. I explained the entire testing system, our current platform transition, and our vision for future test iterations. When you have the opportunity, please take a look at that update! Again if you have any questions or concerns and would like to contact us here at CASLI, please feel free to reach out. My email is director@casli.org. My VP number is 703-988-4543 and my FaceTime address is sgrieser@casli.org. We are still very busy but we will try to respond to you as soon as possible. With test development, platform transition, and new exams, it’s a lot of work and tends to get backed up, but I will do my best to reach you as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for watching – have a great day!
